Pragjyotish boys win soccer title

 GUWAHATI, Nov 14 – Pragjyotish English School, Panbazar emerged champions in the White Feather Sports Academy organised inter school prize-money football tournament.

In the well-contested final played at the St Claret School, Azara today, Pragjyotish edged past St Monfort School, Jorabat 2-1. Diganta Gayary scored both the goals for the winning team while Jenial was the lone striker for St Monfort. Durga Chetri of St Monfort was adjudged best player of the tournament while Anuj Das of St Claret received the best goalkeeper award.

White Feather Sports Academy is a sports and cultural organisation of north-eastern, region which is working for the development of games like football, cricket and table tennis apart from cultural events.

Altogether 16 city-based schools took part in the meet which was played in league-cum-knock out basis. Noted cricketer Sayed Zakaria Zuffri, State footballer Sawan Thapa, sportspersons Tilak Das, Amar Singh, Amar Dutta, Arup Goswami, Nayanjyoti Borkotoki along with Brazilian coach Juliano were present in the closing function. The winning team received Rs 10,000 while the runners-up school walked away with a purse of Rs 5,000.
