Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Nov 14 – Showing solidarity with their alma mater, the Gauhati Medical College Alumni Association will provide some honours and scholarships during its golden jubilee alumni meet to be held on December 11.

The association said the overall aim is to promote the institution and the people who have made it a leading name in medical education.

At a press meet held in GMCH on Saturday, the association said it would honour fifty teachers who have excelled as teachers and contributed to the growth of the college. Moreover, a number of awards and scholarships will be given out, including best graduate and post graduate awards, which would recognise not just academic distinction but excellence in other spheres.

Dr Prafulla Chandra Deka, secretary general of the association said members of the association were committed to support development of the institution.

Dr Naren Dutta, from the first batch of GMC, said that alumni of the college are now spread all over the world, and some of those are among the very best in their fields.

Seeking the media’s support, the association stated that alumni of the college could get in touch through the website and also contact members of the association.
