Dengue claims 2 more lives

 GUWAHATI, Nov 13 – Dengue has claimed two more lives in the State taking the death toll to five, the last two deaths being recorded on Monday raising serious apprehensions over the immunity aspect.

However, officially, the death toll has been put at 4.

While Binandi Chandra Talukdar (70), a resident of Dispur Supermarket area, died on Monday morning in the Down Town Hospital, Dr Ramani Mohan Saikia, former head of the Department of Gastroenterology, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, died at International Hospitals later in the evening.

Respective hospital sources have confirmed both the two dengue deaths.

Officially, so far 257 confirmed cases of dengue have been detected by the Health department, of which four had lost their lives.

This was informed by Joint Director of Health Services Dr RH Hazarika while talking to this reporter.

“Although rumours are doing rounds, we have till date recorded four deaths,” Hazarika asserted.
