Rousing welcome to Ranee Narah in N Lakhimpur

 NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Nov 12 – The newly inducted Minister of State of Tribal Affairs to the Union Cabinet and Lakhimpur MP, Ranee Narah, was given a rousing welcome in North Lakhimpur today as she visited the district for the first time after assuming her office. She was welcomed by Bihpuria MLA Bhupen Borah at Hawajaan on the Sonitpur-Lakhimpur border and escorted by a huge motorcade and motorcycle-borne supporters to Lakhimpur district.

After that she was given a ceremonial reception at Bihpuria Town Committee office by Narayanpur and Bihpuria Block Congress Committee. She was also received at Laluk by Congress workers. The main function of her civic reception was held at Tyagkshetra where Ranee Narah was felicitated by Lakhimpur District Congress Committee, Block and Mandal committees, Youth Congress, NSUI, Seva Dal, etc., various organizations like Lakhimpur Senior Citizens’ Forum, Lions Club of Lakhimpur Prerona, various Mising organizations, and organizations from neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh, etc.

In her address to the public, Minister Ranee Narah said she had become MP by dint of the blessings of the people from Lakhimpur HPC and her Cabinet berth was also the result of the same blessings.

Narah also spoke about the public concerns over the Lower Subansiri Hydro-electric Project at Gerukamukh. Significantly, she said that while the nation wants power for development at the same time the apprehensions of the public could not be overlooked. Narah called for the completion of the power plant by addressing the public safety and concerns of the people. The function was also attended by Bihpuria MLA Bhupen Borah, Nowboicha MLA Sanjay Raj Subba and ex-Lakhimpur MLAs Ghana Buragohain and Sula Borah.
