Assam take lead against Haryana

 GUWAHATI, Nov 12 – Assam took a thin first innings lead of 14 runs against Haryana in their U-22 CK Nayudu Trophy match at Tinsukia today.

On the opening day of the four-day match, in low scoring first innings, opting to bat first, Assam were all out for 132 and in reply Haryana were bundled for 118.

For Assam, Rahul Hazarika top scored with 33 while Sunil Ranjan Gogoi (26), Sarupam Purkayastha (19) and Washikur Rahman (16) were the other notable contributors.

For Haryana, Sumit Badhawar was the leading scorer with 46 while Rahul Tewatia added 29. Roshan Alam wrecked the Haryana innings with a six wicket haul as skipper Arup Das removed three scalps.

Brief scores: Assam 1st innings 131 (Rahul Hazarika 33, Sunil Ranjan Gogoi 26, Sarupam Purkayastha 19, Washikur Rahman 16, Amresh Choudhury 4/11, goving 2/5, Kapil Sharma 2/47).

Haryana 1st innings 118 (Sumit Badhwar 46, Rahul Tewatia 29, Roshan Alam 6/32, Arup Das 3/38).
