Irregularity in distribution of funds alleged
DHUBRI, Nov 11 - In a complaint before the O/C Gauripur PS by hundreds of villagers from the Jhaloralga, Dangirchar, Geramari and many other villages, it was alleged that miscreants have opened fake accounts in their names, forged their thumb impressions and withdrawn money from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

In the complaint vide Gauripur PS (case no. 1492/19), it was stated that documents from hundreds of villagers of Jhaloralga, Dangirchar, Geramari and many other nearby villages were taken by a few miscreants, with a promise to provide them job card. But some months later, when a man came to their villages for verification of bank account holders, they came to learn that fraudulent bank accounts were opened in their names by forging their thumb impressions and the first instalment of Rs 2000 for the farmers, as beneficiaries of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, was withdrawn from their accounts.

The villagers in the complaint alleged that over 400 villagers in these areas have been cheated by this process.

Police said that investigation into this matter is on and they have already raided a few areas in search of the accused persons. Police also said that all the accused named in the FIR are absconding.

Meanwhile, talking to this Correspondent, officials of the District Agriculture Office agreed that the scheme has been misused and many beneficiaries have been deprived of the benefits by miscreants all over the district. It was informed that they have uploaded 149219 bank accounts in their server for the scheme but later they found that 203126 accounts have been entered from the district, clarifying that as many as 53907 fraudulent accounts have been entered. They said that regarding the matter a complaint before the police and higher authorities has already been made by them.
