Tinsukia pays tributes to legend’s ashes

 TINSUKIA, Nov 11 – Rich tributes were paid by the people of Tinsukia to the last remains of the music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika on Friday. Both the urns, one especially for Sadiya and other for the rest of Tinsukia, that contain the ashes of the great son of the soil Dr Bhupen Hazarika who was born at Sadiya of Tinsukia district were given heartfelt welcome on Friday morning by the people of Tinsukia.

Alongwith the Deputy Commissioner and other high ranking officers of the district administration, several organisations, individuals etc received the urns with gayon bayons and the urn for the Sadiya people was handed over to the executive magistrates of Sadiya subdivision to take it to Sadiya. The urn kept at the ITI field here was taken to Margherita for keeping it at India Club Margherita for public view.

Nanak Jayanti: Not only the people of the Sikh community but also from the other communities of this heterogenic district celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism on November 10. From the early hours of the day devotees went to the nearby Gurudwaras to pray by chanting Gurubani, kirtans etc.

In Tinsukia, a colourful rally with the Granth Sahib was taken out on the main streets from the gurudwara situated at Tinkonia of the town.
