Jharkhand stage fightback after conceding lead

 GUWAHATI, Nov 10 – Assam took a thin 5-run first innings lead but the host Jharkhand staged a fightback removing two second inning wickets of Assam in the group C Ranji Trophy match at Jamshedpur today.

On the second day of the four-day match, in reply to Assam’s first innings total of 179, the host team were all out for 174 resuming at the over night total of 2 for no loss.

Off spinner Arlen Konwar took six wickets to wreck the Jharkhand innings almost single handedly. Other spinner Syed Mohammad and speed star Abu Nechim Ahmed captured two wickets each.

For Jharkhand RN Nemat top scored with 53 off 99 balls while Sourav Tiwary (33) Ishank Jaggi (23) and DA Chougule (22) were the other useful contributors for the team.

Assam lost both the openers Pallav Das (20) and Dheeraj Jadhav (7) in the second innings.
