SILCHAR, Nov 10 – The All Cachar Karimganj and Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) has urged for two music colleges in Barak valley as well as in Brahmaputra valley in memorium of the music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika.In this connection, Pradip Dutta Roy, founder president and chief advisor of ACKSHA has sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi yesterday.
Pradip Dutta Roy said that the legendary singer is no more but his songs will live for many decades. For this reason, he has proposed to set up two music colleges in the name of Dr Bhupen Hazarika in Barak valley and Brahmaputra valley in recognition to his indelible contribution in bringing people of both valley’s nearer through his songs. Establishment of music colleges in his name in the valleys will perhaps be the most befitting manner to pay homage to Bhupenda, he said.
Dutta Roy, further said that Bhupenda’s songs, his works created the bondage the synthesis between Barak and Brahmaputra valley which has crashed all barriers of caste and religion. People of both the valley’s find enthusiasm in his song which is so scenic and so rare. His contribution during the independence war of Bangladesh is upheld with all regard and dignity, he added.
