Websites of 21 district judiciaries launched

GUWAHATI, Nov 10 – The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, MB Lokur, centrally inaugurated the websites of the district judiciaries of 21 districts of the State here recently, a press release stated.

The inauguration programme, held on the Gauhati High Court premises, was also attended by justices AK Goel, Amitava Roy, BP Katakey, Hrishikesh Roy, AK Goswami and PK Saikia, registrars, judicial officers, members of bar associations, among other officials.

During the course of the inauguration, the judges interacted with the judicial officers of Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Morigaon and Sivasagar districts through video-conferencing.

The launching of the websites will allow cause lists, judgments and other information of the district judiciary to be viewed from any place at any time, bringing more transparency to the system.

The websites will go a long way in providing case-related information to the litigant public, advocates and other stakeholders. At present, cause lists and judgments of some district courts of Assam are being made available. Gradually, cause lists, judgments and orders will be made available in the websites of all the district courts.

The target set for availability of cause lists and judgments of all district courts through websites is December 31. It is also a part of the e-courts project and one of the Mission Mode Projects of the National E-Governance Plan.
