GUWAHATI, Nov 10 – The BJP has demanded of the government to posthumously confer Bharat Ratna on Dr Bhupen Hazarika, the living legend who is in eternal sleep.Recalling his association with Dr Hazarika before media persons here on Thursday, senior BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi said that the contribution of the cultural icon will always be remembered by the country.
"Dr Hazarika promoted the folk arts while he was the chairman of the Sangeet Natak Akademi," said Joshi.
It needs to be mentioned here that Joshi earlier had visited the residence of Dr Bhupen Hazarika at Nizarapar here and comforted the bereaved family members.
