GUWAHATI, Nov 9 - Requiring 160 for victory in the second innings, Assam were 122 for the loss of four wickets on the penultimate day of the four-day Group A Ranji Trophy match against Haryana.
At the CH Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, Lahli, Rohtak today, Assam medium pacers Arup Das and Krishna Das yet again showed tremendous courage and skittled out the Haryana team for a paltry 111 in their second innings. Starting at overnight’s 15 for three, the host team could add just 96 runs with remaining seven wickets. Arup came out with six wickets for 39 while Krishna took four for 48. It was Krishna’s third 10-wicket match haul while it was Arup’s sixth fifer in Ranji Trophy.
Chasing the target Assam is in a comfortable position scoring 122 for four with Amit Verma (24 off 70 balls) and skipper Gokul Sharma 10 off 16 balls) are at the crease at the end of the day. KB Arun Karthik (48 off 58 balls) and opener Rahul Hazarika (24 off 42 balls) were the other batsmen who contributed valuable runs on the difficult wicket.
