|Exhibition on India’s achievements in space science|
DOOMDOOMA, Nov 8 - As a part of the centenary celebration programme of Dr Vikram Sarabhai, the founder of Indian space programme, a state-of-the-art mobile space museum has been developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on a bus. The bus along with a team of scientists from North Eastern Space Application Center (NESAC) of ISRO situated at Umiam, Shillong came to Doomdooma to exhibit India’s achievements in space science during the 27th State Level National Children’s Science Congress-2019 held at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of Tinsukia district situated at Rangajan here from November 1 to 4.

Talking to this correspondent, Dr Arup Borgohain, a scientist of NESAC said that in the “Space Museum on Wheel” models of launch vehicles (SLV, ASLV, PSLV, GSLV), Satellites (polar and geostationary), Vikash Engine, Cryo stage, RLV-RD, NAVIC, ISRO extra planetary missions etc., had been kept. “Some of the models are self explanatory using interactive command base software,” informed Dr Borgohain.
A large number of visitors from various walks of life like students, teachers, farmers and labourers visited this mobile exhibition and had a feel of the Indian space technology.
Talking to this correspondent, Kabyashree Moran, a student of Class-X of Modern Academy, Rupai said that she was overwhelmed wih the models of launch vehicles in the Mobile Exhibition Bus.
Ratneswar Moran, a farmer of Rangajan area said that by experiencing the models in the bus he could form an idea how a rocket is launched. He also said that the bus should go to remote areas of the State so that the children as well as the elders get acquainted with Space Science.
On their way back to Shillong from Doomdooma, the team of scientists from NESAC exhibited the models at Sivasagar College situated at Joysagar where thousands of people, especially students and teachers had an idea of space technology of our country, informed Dr Arup Borgohain.
