PATACHARKUCHI, Nov 8 - State Finance and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony at this critical juncture.
Participating in a golden jubilee celebration programme of Shyama Puja at Balapara, he said peace is a must to bring in development of the state, and accordingly, the state government has taken a number of steps. In this regard, he urged upon the people to reap the benefits of the government schemes meant for the poor people.
“We are committed to developing the state by way of new schemes and we hope that we will do better in the days to come,” he said, adding that Rajakhat-Balapur-Rampur Road would be developed.
The inaugural speech was delivered by Jakir Hussain Sikdar MLA of Sarukhetri Constituency and the programme was anchored by Hiren Kalita.
After the meeting, the Minister met the local people and discussed about their problems. He later asked the concerned officials to take urgent steps to address their problems.
The golden jubilee celebration, which began on November 6 is likely to continue for 10 days. During the 10-day programmes, several programmes have been lined up, including Bhagabat path, diha nam competition, dhulia show, jatravinay, cultural programme etc.
