GUWAHATI, Nov 8 - The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) organised a torchlight rally in various places demanding introduction of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system for the safeguard of the indigenous people of the State.

Dhemaji correspondent adds: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Dhemaji district committee in association with various anchalik committees took out a torchlight procession demanding introduction of ‘Inner Line Permit’ system in Assam today.
The AJYCP members with various local organizations took out the procession at 12 different locations, including Gogamukh, Bordoloni, Dhemaji, Moridhal, Silapthar and Jonai under the district. The protesters shouted slogans against the State and the Central governments for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Bill-2016.
The AJYCP members also criticised Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their alleged inaction in this regard.
AJYCP district general secretary Bishnu Sarma in a press statement said that the AJYCP has been demanding introduction of ‘Dual Citizenship’ and ‘Inner Line Permit (ILP)’ systems in Assam for the last two decades, but the respective governments have failed to take action.
“There is no alternative other than introduction of ILP system for identification of the outsiders besides prevention of settlement of dubious citizens in the state. The identity of the indigenous people of the state would be at risk if the ILP system is not implemented”, Sarma said.
Earlier, the AJYCP had staged a sit-in demonstration demanding introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state. The organisation demanded immediate implementation of ILP in the greater interest of the indigenous people.
Meanwhile, the Dhemaji district committee of the AJYCP have decided to organize a series of seminars on ‘Introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) at different places of the district.
Doomdooma correspondent adds: Demanding the introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state , Doomdooma regional committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad ( AJYCP ) took out a torchlight rally in Doomdooma town this evening. The organisation also registered a strong protest against the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Participating in the rally, Surajit Moran, president of Tinsukia District Committee of AJYCP said that there is no other alternative,but to introduce the ILP in the state to solve the illegal migration problem. He also strongly opposed the Bill saying this would hurt the indigenous people.
Similar rallies were also brought out at Tinsukia , Bordubi , Digboi , Margherita , Pengeri - Bordumsa , Phillobari , Lohali and Matiakhana of Tinsukia district by the local units of the AJYCP this evening.
