STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI, Nov 8 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today laid the foundation stone for construction of an auditorium of ‘Sadau Asom Maina Parijat’ at Betkuchi locality, near Lokhara here under the Untied Fund for the year 2017-18.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal announced that the Government of Assam would soon institute an award in the name of Padma Shree awardee Nalinibala Devi to recognise the services rendered for overall development of children in the State.
He laid emphasis on promoting creativity and instilling human values among children. He said that there is a need to inspire the children to imbibe human and moral values so that they could contribute in reinforcing peace, harmony and brotherhood in society.
Lauding the initiative of Sadau Asom Maina Parijat for setting up ‘Children Clubs’ in all its branches across 22 districts of the State, Sonowal suggested expansion of the network to the remaining districts as well.
He also appreciated the role of Maina Parijat in providing a platform to children for cultivating their inherent talents and generating a positive environment in society.
Underlining the role of parents, teachers and society in building positive and robust personalities among children, Sonowal highlighted the need for having “good people” to strengthen the socio-cultural fabric of the nation.
“Parents and teachers have a huge responsibility in building children’s personality. They must inspire them to emulate the ideals of great personalities and boosting their self-confidence so that they could develop positive outlook towards life,” he observed. Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, who is also the president of Sadau Asom Maina Parijat, and AMTRON chairman Ramendra Narayan Kalita also spoke on the occasion. The CM’s Legal Adviser Santanu Bharali, Adviser of Sadau Asom Maina Parijat Jiten Bhagawati and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
