JAMUGURIHAT, Nov 8 – The silver jubilee celebration of Jamuguri Anchalik Srimanta Sankardev Naam Dharma Samaj came to an end on October 29 with the staging of a bhaona in the evening. Bhaona ‘Karnaparba’ was inaugurated by Madhab Ozah, a social worker.
The celebration started with great enthusiasm with participation of the representatives of 52 sub-branches in the morning on October 27 in Panchajanya Bornaamghar near Sologuri Jamugurihat with the unfurling of the ‘Dharmadhwaja (flag) by Dambaru Borah, president of Jamuguri Anchalik Naam Dharma Samaj followed by smriti tarpan initiated by Narendra Hazarika, a noted teacher.
Two concrete gates were also inaugurated one at the approach road Gohain Kamal or Kabir Ali from NH-52 at Sologuri, which was donated by Tarun Hazarika and Jinu Hazarika in the memory of their only son young social worker Anup Hazarika, by Bhaben Borah and the other in front of the Panchajanya Bornaamghar by Guru Prasad Tamuli, which was donated by Bhabeswar Saikia in the name of his nonagenarian mother Saruaaiti Saikia. A souvenir titled Panchajanya edited by Bhupen Borah and Hem Baruah, was released by Bhaben Borah at a function conducted by Hem Baruah and presided over by Khagen Hazarika, president of the souvenir committee. Bhola Kataky, Dinesh Mahanta, Parashu Hazarika, Narendra Hazarika, Purna Bhuyan Hem Baruah, Badan Saikia, Bipul Kr Bhuyan, Bhogeswar Borah, Laxmi Bharali, all former office-bearers of the Samaj, Bhanu Saikia, Hemalata Saikia, Dipali Borah of Aaimatri Samaj and donor of the gates Bhabeswar Saikia and Tarun Hazarika were warmly felicitated at a function. The days programme came to an end with lighting of the earthen lamp by Gunaram Salai. The second day’s programme started in the morning with tree plantation by Laxmi Deka followed by Yuba Samaroh inaugurated by Dulal Hazarika and presided over by Bhabeswar Saikia. Purandar Baruah, president, Yuba Wing Assam, delivered a fruitful lecture as the appointed speaker followed by Aaimatri Samaroh presided over by Subarna Borah while Urmila Sharma of Nagaon participated as the appointed speaker. Abhoy Baruah, the newly elected state president of the Samaj conducted the religious discourse which was addressed by Binode Hazarika and Ratul Bhuyan (Golaghat) as speakers. The day’s programme came to an end with Gondhotsav.
The third day’s programme started in the morning with Pratoh Prasanga followed by a colourful 10 kilometre-long religio-cultural procession which was participated by the ethnic groups of Naduar such as Bodos, Misings, Adivasis and Nepali community people, chanting Harinaam. The open session in the afternoon was presided over by Dambaru Borah. The welcome address, and secretarial report were presented by Binode Hazarika and Rajani Borah while Pallav Lochan Das, MLA, Behali took part as the special guest. Dinesh Mahanta, Bhabeswar Saikia, Binode Hazarika, Narendra Hazarika and Padma Kt Bora addressed as the guests of honour. The prizes to the winners of literary-cultural competition were also presented in the meeting.
