GUWAHATI, Nov 7 - A three-day ‘National Livestock and Poultry Show-2019, Assam’ will be held at the College of Veterinary Science playground at Khanapara here from tomorrow, a press release said.
The show is being organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary and Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation to impart training on the latest techniques of farming. Experts from different parts of the country will showcase the modern methods to enable the farmers of the State to double their income.
Over a thousand farmers engaged in cattle farming, goat farming, piggery and poultry farming in the State will take part in the event. Around 200 stalls will display different aspects of livestock farming.
To encourage the farmers, a contest is being organised. The best farmer will be awarded prize money of Rs 1 lakh.
The inaugural function will be attended by Union Minister of Fishery, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Giriraj Singh, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Animal Husbandry Minister Atul Bora among others, the release added.
