GUWAHATI, Nov 6 – The 60th Sitaram Agarwala Inter Stag District and State Table Tennis Championship was inaugurated by State Forest Minister and president of Assam Table Tennis Association Rockybul Hussain at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here this evening.
Inaugurating the championship, Hussain said Assam is gradually improving in the game of table tennis and hoped that within a short span of time Assam will be the top team in the country. He also tevealed that the TTFI is planning to offer an international meet to Assam which will definitely help the State players in learning more. He also praised ATTA secretary Tridib Duvarah and all the members for their untiring effort in organising tournaments and coaching camps regularly.
Tapan Kumar Duwara, GM Pipeline Services, OIL, Hiren Bora, Chief Manager Admn OIL, Iswar Borthakur, ATTA vice-president, Anthony Thakkel, Principal Don Bosco School Guwahati, Pulak Goswami, president Basketball Association of Assam were present as guests on the occasion along with a host of former international players like Nandini Baruah, Sanjib Sakia, Carfew Roy, Madalasa Hazarika and others.
Adrija Sarma took the oath on behalf of all the players.
Tridib Duvarah welcomed the gathering.
