‘Koka Aitar Mel’ draws large crowd at Sivasagar Book Fair

 SIVASAGAR, Nov 5 - ‘Koka Aitar Mel,’ a long-lost cultural tradition among the rural folk, was organised through the initiative of Sourov Chaliha, which drew a large crowd on the second day of the 6th Sivasagar Book Fair, which got under way from November 2.

 Elderly citizens, namely Bholanath Bhuyan, Jayshree Chaliha, Lakhikanta Mahanta, Makhan Bora, Dr Arundhati Mahanta, Heramba Prasad Das, Nakul Baruah and several others took part in the discussion while taking a walk down memory lane.

Poem recitation, painting and other literary competitions were also held among the school children. Asan Ahmed, Tanaya Saikia and Bidusman Borkakoty won the first three positions among students in Group-A in the painting competition while Kabyashree Koch, Sarfaraz Amin Rahman and Ayushi Das won in Group-B. Anuska Saikia, Falguni Borthakur and Silpika Phukan won the first, second and third positions respectively.
