‘Harassment’ of road construction company
Correspondent
DIMAPUR, Nov 5 - The Chakhesang Public Organisation Committee today voiced concern over reports of repeated harassment of the company and contractors engaged in the construction of a two-lane road in Phek district for taxation and donation by persons claiming to be cadres of Naga national groups. The committee also referred to a report that two staff members of a construction company were kidnapped recently for ransom.

Convener of the committee Vaprumu Demo and member secretary Wepe Mekrisuh, in a release, condemned these “senseless and shameless” acts. The committee asked all such “cadres” to immediately stop harassment of the company and contractors for taxation or forced donation. It also asked the company and contractors to report any such related problems during execution of the works in the district. The committee has also appealed to the affected villages and towns in particular and the public in general as well as the administration to remain vigilant and check any potential threat to the ongoing execution of the mega project.
