Riza, Prayashi enter final

 GUWAHATI, Nov 5 – Riza Anirbaan of Guwahati and Prayashi Baruah of Dibrugarh set up the title clash in the cadet girls category in the ongoing 3rd RG Baruah All Assam Ranking Table Tennis Championship. In the boys cadet section, Agastriya Baruah of Sivasagar will play against Mahshin Ahmed of Dibrugarh for the crown.

In the semifinals played at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today, Prayashi defeated Trisha Gogoi of Golaghat 3-2 while Riza blanked Krishangini Phukan of Golaghat 3-0.

On the other hand, Agastriya got the better of Adarsh Goswami of Nagaon 3-2 while Mahshin downed Maharshi Rajguru of Guwahati by an identical margin. In the mens section, the semifinal line-ups have been drawn today. Saidul Alam Ahmed of NF Railway will take on Chinmoy Sarma of Guwahati while El Sayed Mustafa Hussain of Guwahati will lock horns with Pankaj P Chutia of Sivasagar in two semifinals tomorrow.

In the women’s section, Mahasweta Batsalya of Guwahati caused a major upset defeating top seed Kakoli Lahkar 4-2 in a pre-quarter final match. Along with Mahasweta other quarterfinalists in women section are – Ajupi Phukan, Himakhi Gogoi, Mallika Gogoi, Akangsha Bhuyan, Jitakhi Mazumder, Kritika Upadhaya and Sanjana Sarma. In the junior boys section also a major upset took place as unseeded Rabby of Mangaldai trounced second seed Vivek Bora of Golaghat 3-2.
