Auditorium of Auniati Satra inaugurated
 NORTH GUWAHATI, Nov 2 – Amid much enthusiasm of the general public of the city and North Guwahati along with the Vaishnavite devotees, the long-cherished dream of having an auditorium, keeping intact the cultural legacy of the renowned Auniati Satra, was materialised when Dr Pitambar Dev Goswami, the satradhikar inaugurated the same amid religious rituals on the morning of October 27. This was followed by inauguration of holy nagara naamprasanga. The naamprasanga programe was inaugurated by Debananda Goswami, deka satradhikar of the nearly four century-old satra.

A religious seminar on the topic ‘role of heritage, tradition and cultural programmes in building a healthy society’ was inaugurated by Dr Lakshminandan Bora, an ex-president of Asam Sahitya Sabha. The seminar was presided over by Dr Pitambar Dev Goswami, satradhikar, where among others, invited guests including ex-principal Tilok Ch Sarmah and Radha Bora, president, Haridev Sangha explained what they felt about the role of cultural heritage in building a healthy society.

The meeting was followed by release of the souvenir titled Aitijya bhumi brought out on the occcasion. The souvenir has been edited by Anil Das. Himanta Biswa Sarmah, ex-minister and local MLA, explained how one could get rid of the earthly anxieties by resorting to lead a life as shown by the religious heads of our sacred satras. Dilip Barthakur, director of the Social Welfare Department, Govt of Assam, also addressed the gathering.

In the evening an ‘ankiya bhaona’ titled Sabitri Satyaban’ was staged. Diha naam was arranged on October 28 morning while in the evening, cultural items including Satriya dance were staged in the newly-inaugurated auditorium to the delight of the audience.
