GUWAHATI, Nov 1 – This season’s Ranji Trophy tournament will kickstart all over the country tomorrow.
At Nehru Stadium here, Assam will take on Tripura in a Plate Group match in their season opener.
The Nehru Stadium wicket seems to be an sporting one as both batsmen and bowlers will get an equal opportunity. Former State player Mukut Kalita was given the responsibility to prepare the wicket under the guidance of Ratul Das. BCCI’s East Zone curator Ashis Bhowmick of Tripura has already visited the stadium and expressed his satisfaction over the wicket and the outfield.
In the early hours tomorrow, pace bowlers may get advantage of the morning moisture and play a dominating role. But gradually batsmen are likely to get their foot on the wicket. In the later stage, spinners have to play a vital role, particularly after the third day’s tea break. The team with quality spinners is likely to have the last laugh.
