Rhino poachers held

 JORHAT, May 30 - A police team led by the Golaghat Additional Superintendent of  Police (Headquarters) Dhruba Bora today arrested  two most wanted rhino poachers from Furkating Railway Station and recovered one 303 Rifle along with 24 rounds of live ammunition and an axe from the house of one of the poachers.

The arrested persons have been identified as N Thangbawi, of Churachandpur (Manipur) and Sarat Saikia of Tamuli Pathar under Bokakhat Police Station in Golaghat district.

Bora told The Assam Tribune this evening that on the basis of an input about the poachers, the police team nabbed the duo from the station as they were reportedly waiting to board a train to go to Dimapur.

The Additional SP said that the rifle along with ammunition and the axe were recovered from the house of Saikia. He said that the interrogation of the duo was on.
