Cong holds protest meet against Citizenship Bill
Correspondent
IMPHAL, May 30 - Opposition Congress in Manipur has decided to submit a memorandum to the Joint Parliamentary Committee demanding withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

A decision was taken in this regard at the end of the day-long protest meeting on the framework agreement between NSCN (IM) and Government of India and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill at Congress Bhavan here on Wednesday.

The protest meeting was organised by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and it was attended by opposition leader and former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, MLA and former Deputy CM Gaikhangam, President of MPCC TN Haokip and others.

The meeting also resolved to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister and Union Home Minister in this regard, besides demanding for withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Condemning the recent statement of RN Ravi, who is Centre’s interlocutor of the ongoing talks, relating to the contents of the framework agreement in a newspaper on April 26, the meeting decided to urge the Central Government and all political parties to safeguard the interest of Manipur.
