FASS to preserve Dr Hazarika’s memory

 GUWAHATI, May 30 – The London-based Indian High Commission for the United Kingdom (UK) has complied with the request of the Friends of Assam and Seven Sisters (FASS) to help in preserving the memory of legendary musician of the State late Dr Bhupen Hazarika in London. The High Commission has decided to place a picture of Dr Hazarika at the London Nehru Centre of the Indian High Commission.

FASS India vice president Jayanta Barman said in a press statement here that Indian High Commissioner for the UK Jaimini Bhagwati will unveil the picture of Dr Hazarika at a function scheduled for June 26 at the Nehru Centre. Dr M Sayeedur Rahman Khan, the Bangladesh High Commissioner for the UK will attend the function as the guest of honour.

The function will be attended by several other dignitaries and members of the Indian community.

Rini Kakati, London-based International Director of the FASS and NRI co-coordinator for the UK, and Jayanta Barman vice president, FASS India have initiated the matter on behalf of the FASS, said the statement.
