TT, badminton tourney

 GUWAHATI, May 30 – The Don Bosco Alumni, Guwahati unit will have its hands full when it will host the All Assam Ranking Badminton Championship and the All Assam Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship simultaneously from June 1 to 4 and June 2 to 4 respectively.

The championships will be organised at the Don Bosco School, Guwahati in collaboration with Assam Badminton Association (ABA) and Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA).

Organising chairman and principal of Don Bosco School Father Joseph Thellekkatt said in a press conference here today that the school will provide its infrastructure for holding the meet. The recently constructed wooden-floored courts at the indoor stadium of the school will be used for the badminton meet while the TT meet will be played at the Nihal Singh Thakur Indoor Stadium of the school.

ABA secretary Omar Rashid said it will be the second ranking tournament of the year. After completion of the ongoing first one tomorrow, all the players will take part in the Don Bosco meet which will save time and expenditure.

ATTA secretary Tridib Duvarah said, “as it will be the first ranking meet of the year, all the players from all over the State are likely to take part where competitions will be held from U-10 to veterans groups for both male and female.
