GUWAHATI, May 29 - Socio-cultural organisation Jyotirupa has condoled the death of artist Benu Misra, who passed away this morning.
In a condolence message, Jyotirupa president PG Baruah and general secretary Naren Hazarika said that as an artist par excellence, Misra infused a new dynamism into the State’s artistic arena and brought laurels for the State across the nation and also internationally.
“In the field of sculpture, too, Misra left his indelible imprint and the decades of 1960 and 1970s in particular bear the stamp of his ingenuity. He was also an accomplished musician and particularly excelled in playing the tabla.”
“Jyotirupa mourns the death of this great artist. His death has created a deep void which will be impossible to fill. His legacy will endure and continue to inspire generations of artists,” it added.
