JORHAT, May 28 - The Jorhat district administration under Section 144 of the CrPC has reinforced the night curfew within the radius of five km along the Assam-Nagaland border in the district.
The curfew will be in force from 8 pm to 5 am, stated the order issued by the Jorhat District Magistrate today.
The order mentioned that the measure has been taken in view of apprehension of militants trying to sneak into the district to carry out subversive activities, a source said, quoting the order.
Security personnel, magistrates and employees of the Forest department deployed in the border areas have been exempted from the night curfew, the order mentioned.
The order further said the night curfew will be in force until further order by the district magistrate in this regard, the source stated.
Earlier on March 26 this year, the district magistrate issued the order clamping night curfew along the Assam-Nagaland border in the district.
The source stated that Jorhat district shares over 100 km boundary with Nagaland.
