GUWAHATI, May 25 – Altogether 986 bowlers, in the age group of 17 to 22 years, have appeared in a test before BCCI coaches Joginder Puri and Manish Bali to prove their talent but could not satisfy the BCCI officials.The BCCI coaches allowed all the bowlers to bowl in the camp, billed-Raw Talent Search Camp for Bowlers, organised by Assam Cricket Association at the Nehru Stadium here today. The camp was meant for players who have not played in any kind of tournament organised by BCCI.
At the preliminary stage all the participants were allowed to bowl at single stump. After that the selected five pace bowlers and two spinners for the final selection and they were asked to bowl at right handed and left handed batsmen in various ways like inswing, out swing, yorker, boucer etc. At the preliminary stage most of the boys even could not show the basics of cricket bowling. Likewise in the final stage also all the seven bowlers could not bowl as they were asked for.
Later both Puri and Bali, who are former first class cricketers said, they even did not find any talented bowler in Mumbai. In Kolkata they picked there players out of around 3000. The BCCI officials were, however, satisfied with the organising part of the camp and termed as most disciplined among all the camps organised in places like Mumbai, Kolkata, Dharamsala, Jammu and Kashmir, Agartala, Jamshedpur etc.
