One tests positive in Tinsukia dist

 DOOMDOOMA, May 23 - A returnee from Chennai, who was quarantined at Madhania Bhawan, Tinsukia since May 18, tested positive for COVID-19. Identified as Subhankar Dohutia (24), son of Kamal Dahutia hailing from Malbhog gaon under Hahkhati gaon panchayat of Saikhowa Development Block in Doomdooma Revenue Circle, Dohutia reached Guwahati by Shramik Express from Chennai and was brought to Tinsukia by bus on May 18.

After his test results came out as COVID-19 positive, he was shifted to AMC&H, Dibrugarh on Friday night. He had reportedly moved to Chennai in October, 2019.

Niluram Sarma, Executive Magistrate in-charge of the quarantine centre at Madharia Bhawan informed that all passengers who had travelled with Dohutia have been quarantined along with other occupants numbering 35 and the entire Bhawan has been sanitized. Though the Bhawan has a capacity of 54, further entry to the Bhawan has been banned, stated Sarma.

Meanwhile, as per the report received from the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner’s office, a total number of 1254 persons of the district reached Tinsukia by Rajdhani Express and the Shramik Express till 12 o’clock on Saturday. Out of these 1254 people, swabs of 860 persons have already been taken and sent for test. Out of these 860 persons, the results of 596 persons have been received so far. Except for one, all the other 595 persons tested negative. The results of 264 persons are still pending.
