More weapons found in Garo Hills
Correspondent
TURA, May 23 - A huge cache of weapons was recovered at Dorengkigre and Bowegre villages in East Garo Hills district this morning – the seventh such recovery in the past two months.

The weapons, which are suspected to have been stashed away by the now deceased chief of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), Sohan D Shira, were recovered this morning by a police team with help from the locals.

“Some villagers showed us the places where the weapons lay hidden. Some of the weapons were recovered from very difficult places, which would not have been possible without the help of the villagers,” said the SP of East Garo Hills, Ringrang TG Momin. One of the weapons (an AK-series rifle) is suspected to have been snatched from the police.
