Retired top cop turns teacher
STAFF REPORTER
GUWAHATI, May 23 - How often do you find a retired top Indian Police Service (IPS) officer dedicate his time for a cause, which is neither lucrative nor glamorous? Former Director General of Assam Police, Mukesh Sahay who had retired recently, chose to be an exception.

Post retirement, Sahay has been devoting his time in teaching mathematics at Sonaram Higher Secondary School here. Sahay during a visit to the school had assured the authorities that he would someday chip in with his services for the institution that did not have a mathematics teacher for Class XII.

While the school authorities had apparently forgotten the promise, Sahay made it a point to keep his promise. “During my service period, I could not spare enough time for teaching. Now that I have retired, I am offering my services to the institution as part of my duty for the society,” Sahay said.

“I am enjoying my new stint as a teacher and would continue to offer my services as long as I can,” the former DGP said.
