GUWAHATI, May 20 – Riding on a great batting show by man-of-the-match Moora Singh (57 off 22 balls), Mangalam Monks emerged champions in the maiden edition of GTC LNJ T20 Corporate Champions League.
In the thrilling summit clash at the Judges’ Field here last evening, Mangalam Monks (MM) snatched a six-wicket victory against Kedar Road Raiders (KRR).
In the high-scoring final, KRR was asked to use the track first which seemed full of runs. KRR batsmen did not disappoint their team management and scored a healthy total of 174 for the loss of four wickets. Rishabh Das 35 (31 balls), Naresh Gehlot 46 (23 balls), Gokul Sharma 40 (27 balls), Gaurav Jhangra 27 (12 balls) boosted the KRR total to a formidable total.
Chasing the tough target, MM made a disappointing start losing the top order at 78. But Moora Singh was in devastating form and hit 57 (22 balls). He and and Nayan Deka 38 (24 balls) stitched 68 runs which brought MM insight of victory.
Finally, they romped home losing four wickets with seven balls to spare.
Vivek Singh of MM (221 runs and 4 wickets) walked away with the Player of the Tournament award. Rishab Das and Niraj Tiwary, both KRR were adjudged as best batsman and best bowler of the tournament respectively.
