Girls outshine boys in Manipur matric exam

 IMPHAL, May 20 – Girl students outshone boys by bagging the top three positions in Manipur’s Matric examination this year, the results of which was announced here today.

Miranda Mongbijam of Nirmalabas School secured the top position, while Keisham Luxmirani of Little Flower School and Ratimanjuri Devi Hajarimayum, also from Nirmalabas School bagged the second and third positions respectively.

The result of the much-awaited High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2013 was formally declared by the Education Minister Moirangthem Okendra in the presence of Manipur Board of Secondary Education Chairman Dhanakumar at a press conference here today.

Miranda got a total of 480 marks out of total 500 while second position holder Luxmirani scored 479 marks.

Speaking to media persons on phone from Meerut in UP, Miranda said that she will pursue MBBS as she aims to become a doctor.

Luxmirani wants to appear for the civil service examinations while Ratimanjuri’s aim in life is to become a police officer.

The pass percentage of this year’s HSLC examination is 72 pc which is the highest in last five years. A total of 33,579 students appeared in the examination. Of these, 10,668 were placed in first division and 12,452 in second.
