Nalbari AGP gears up for panchayat poll
 NALBARI, May 19 - With the Panchayat elections round-the-corner, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is gearing up to strengthen the party base in the all three legislative Assembly constituencies of Nalbari, Barkshetri and Dharmapur in Nalbari district.

The general secretary of Nalbari district committee of Asom Gana Parisad, Keshab Deka said that the district committee has carried out a drive to form the 830 gaon sabhas under 83 anchalik committees of the district.

The drive is going on in full swing and will be completed within June 30 next. Deka added that the 19 anchalik committees of Barkshetri, 20 anchalik committees of Nalbari and 19 anchalik committees of Dharmapur LACs have been newly formed so far.

Deka further said that the minority people in all the three constituencies have been attracted towards the regional party. They are more enthusiastic to join the Asom Gana Parishad, he claimed.

According to the senior leader of the regional party, the Asom Gana Parishad which is the alliance partner of the State BJP Government will perform better in the ensuing panchayat election.

It may be mentioned here that the party has geared up its activities following the visit of a group of central AGP leaders to the district.
