HAILAKANDI, May 19 - A clerk of Katakhal Janakicharan Higher Secondary School of Hailakandi district, Moinul Haque Laskar was arrested by the police on Monday for allegedly taking bribes of Rs 5000 each for allowing 46 schools to sit in the Government run examination centre of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination on the basis of the complaint of the Hailakandi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) with proof of telephonic conversation.

The general secretary of BJYM, Saurav Sarma Mazumdar alleged that accused Moinul Haque Laskar demanded Rs 5000 from the principal of Promodini Dey Adarsha Vidyaniketan of Katakhal, Manabendra Dey for registration with the Government run HSLC centre. Mazumdar said that Moinul told the principal that he is collecting Rs 5000 each from the 46 schools for registration at the behest of the Additional Deputy Commissioner and incharge of Inspector of Schools, FR Laskar. On the basis of this conversation, BJYM members met the Additional Deputy Commissioner Laskar on Monday and submitted the complaint.
