|Two held with fake currency|
JALUKBARI, May 19 - Two persons were arrested at Jalukbari yesterday for possessing fake notes of Rs 2,000 denomination. Police recovered two Rs 2,000 notes from Musaraf Ali (45) and Sahajul Haque (25) of Bihudia, Kharupetia.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that their relative Mainul Haque of Chandakhul, Dhubri had given the notes to them for circulation on a trial basis. The police are on the lookout for Mainul.
The fake currency notes were reportedly manufactured in Bangladesh and smuggled into India through the porous India-Bangladesh border. Both of them have been sent to seven days’ police custody. Further investigations is on, police sources said. Police today said that after interrogation the duo confessed that Mainul Haque had brought Rs 6 lakh fake Indian currency from Bangladesh for circulation in Indian territory.
