IMPHAL, May 19 - Four Manipur police personnel including a sub inspector were seriously injured in a bomb attack in Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar on Friday, sources said.
The incident took place when the police personnel were patrolling in between Kwatha and Khudengthabi for the movement of Parliamentary Secretary (Home) Laishram Sushindro, who was returning from Kwatha, a remote village, about 100 km south of State capital, after attending a function. A bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was exploded by suspected militants around 1 pm injuring them, police said. The security personnel retaliated with gunfire.
Additional State forces and Assam Riflesmen rushed to the area and conducted a search. But there is no report of arrest.
The injured personnel were rushed to hospital in Imphal. Two out of the four are said to be critical.
