AGARTALA, May 19 - Aiming to boost BJP’s Assembly election campaign in Tripura, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan are all set to visit the Marxist-ruled State.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the State in July while the party will organise a rally here on June 10 where Himanta Biswa Sarma will be present.
Assam Chief Minister is all set to address a party rally at Ambassa on May 27. Assam Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta is also expected to visit the State but his programme schedule is yet to be confirmed.
Dutta is supposed to address two party rallies at Dharmanagar and Kumarghat in Unakoti district. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan is arriving here on an official visit on May 27. He will also join party programme.
In his last visit to the State, BJP national president Amit Shah has already instructed the party State unit to launch party programme from the grassroot level. “The party programmes and visit of party’s star campaigners are part of the Shah’s vision for the BJP’s election campaign”, said Pratima Bhowmik, general secretary of BJP Mohila Morcha here on Wednesday.
“Their visit will certainly intensify party’s campaign for the 2018 Assembly elections in Tripura”, she said.
“The programme kick started on May 16 when party workers collect signatures of State Government employees”, she said.
Meanwhile, BJP has formally begun selection of candidates for the 60 Assembly constituencies though the State goes to election early next year.
