Acharya asks winners to build ‘Golden Assam’
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, May 19 - Governor PB Acharya has lauded the voters of Assam for exercising their right to franchise according to the Indian democratic process and for upholding the democratic values of the nation.

He also praised the Election Commission for the peaceful and smooth conduct of the election process to the Assam Legislative Assembly from the day of voting to the day of counting.

The Governor said that the smooth and peaceful conduct of the overall election process was symbolic of a vibrant democracy as well as the people’s hunger for security and development.

“The large participation of tribals, women and new voters in exercising their votes shows an awakening of the people for the democratic process of running the government. This also shows the negation of violence and gun culture to achieve the goals by peaceful democratic methods,” the Governor said in an official statement.

Acharya congratulated all the elected members regardless of their party affiliations and appealed to all to work hard for the development of society and make Assam a ‘Golden Assam’ at par with the other developed states of the country.
