State information panel hearing on RTI Act

 GUWAHATI, May 18 - The Assam Information Commission, while disposing of a second appeal of the Directorate of Agriculture today, observed that many public authorities have not complied with the statutory provisions for suo-moto disclosure of information under Section 4(2) required to be made within 120 days from the date of enactment of the RTI Act, 2005. Non-disclosure of information has resulted in submission of a large number of RTI petitions, appeals and complaints which could have been avoided had the public authorities complied with the requirements of Section 4 of the Act.State police panel submits report

GUWAHATI, May 18 - The Assam Police Accountability Commission presented its Annual Report-2016 to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his office here today.

Chairman of the Commission Justice (retd) Pranoy Kumar Mushahary, along with Commission members Sibabrata Kakoty and Parul Debi Das presented the report in presence of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Lohiya.

Sonowal said he would look into the recommendations and do the needful accordingly, said an official press release.
