Cong will approach SC if Citizenship Bill is passed: APCC

 NALBARI, May 17 - Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora said if the BJP government enforces the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 as law, the Congress will approach the Supreme Court against it. Addressing a protest rally here on Wednesday, Bora said his party would not allow the Central government to pass the Bill in Parliament.

APCC chief asked all the party members to oppose the Citizenship Bill. The Congress on Wednesday took out a mass rally here against the controversial Bill.

The protest rally was taken out from the Rajiv Bhawan here and all the main thoroughfares of the town were covered.

They also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, opposing the controversial Bill.

The rally was attended, among others, by Nilamani Sen Deka, former minister, APCC secretary Pradyut Bhuyan and District Congress Committee president Diganta Barman.
