ITANAGAR, May 17 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu today extended their heartiest felicitations to 40-year-old woman mountaineer, Muri Linggi, for scaling Mount Everest on May 14 last.
Congratulating Linggi, the Governor said that people of Arunachal Pradesh are proud of her. “You have proved that our Arunachali daughters are tough, courageous, adventurous, meritorious and better than any other. Your achievement has made us proud and you have set an example for your Arunachali sisters to emulate,” said the Governor, in his congratulatory note to the mountaineer.
Chief Minister Khandu while congratulating Linggi for becoming the third woman from the State to summit the world’s highest mountain peak, said: “If you are determined on fulfilling your passion and dream to achieve great – the circumstances or the age doesn’t matter.
The 40-year-old Muri Linggi, mother of four girls, has proven that by becoming the third woman from Arunachal Pradesh to conquer Mount Everest,” Khandu said.
He further said, “Linggi has made us all proud. In her effort, she has also taken along the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. State Directorate of Youth Affairs while extending its hearty congratulation to the Everest summitter, informed that it will organise a grand reception and flag-in function for Linggi.
