Tripura Minister meets Union Power Minister

 AGARTALA, May 17 - Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Thursday met Union Power Minister RK Singh in New Delhi and put forward some demands for the State, according to official sources.

Singh assured him that ‘Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana’, which is popularly known as “Saubhagya”, will connect 1,41,625 unconnected households and fund will be released at the earliest.

State’s Power Minister demanded for reduction in rate of power purchased from Bongaigaon thermal power plant in order to reduce tariff burden on consumers. To this, Singh agreed on the demand of the State Government and assured that he will take all possible steps.

Dev Varma also raised the issue of halting works of power line of 132 KV from Ambassa to Ganacherra, which was held up due to lack of forest clearance and funds. In reply, the Union Minister assured the matter will be expedited and he will clear the matter on priority basis.
