Forest Minister appeals for cooperation to help protect forests

 BADARPUR, May 16 - State Forest Minister Primal Suklabaidya has said that taking care of the forests and protecting the environment, will be his first and foremost duty. Speaking at a reception given in his honour at Badarpur after he took charge as the new Forest Minister, Suklabaidya appealed to all people to cooperate with him in his endeavour to protect the State forests.

Senior leaders of the Karimganj district BJP Committee, officers and employees of the Karimganj Forest Department and the district administration, SP Gaurav Upadhyaya, and senior citizens of Badarpur greeted him on his arrival here recently. On behalf of the Karimganj district BJP committee, the minister was accorded a warm reception at Badarpur Railway Station. At a reception held at Badarpur, under the presidentship of Badarpur Mandal BJP president Rupan Kumar Paul, Suklabaidya said that he will do his duty properly, fairly, and strictly.

Replying to a question by mediapersons, Suklabaidya said that a major portion of the works of roads of Barak Valley has been completed and the remaining will be completed within a few months. He said that the State Fishery department has decided to give a loan of Rs one lakh to 8000 educated unemployed youths so that they can become self-reliant. Suklabaidya also informed that after taking over charge of the Excise department, in the first financial year, revenue of Rs 399 crore was collected and in the next year it increased to Rs 600 crore.
