KNP guards assaulted

 GUWAHATI, May 16 - Three forest guards of the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) were assaulted by a gang of miscreants at Naramari under the Sildubi Forest Camp located within the sixth extension of the National Park, which is known as the Northern Range of the National Park, this morning when the KNP staff were trying to resist illegal fishing activities at the place. According to the first information report (FIR) filed by the forest guard Krishna Sarma before the Jamaguri Police Station in Sonitpur district, the incident took place around 10 am today, when he, along with Rose Kumar Pegu and Apurba Kumar Roy, tried to resist the illegal fishing activities being carried out by three persons at a pool. A group of around 20 persons came out from the nearby village in support of the persons who were fishing in the pool illegally and picked up a quarrel with them (the KNP personnel) and started attacking the KNP staff physically.
