GUWAHATI, May 16 - The second annual meet of the ‘Nagoyanmel’, an organisation of the people of Nagaon district settled in Guwahati, was held on May 13 last at a city hotel, a press release stated.
The meet took a number of resolutions pertaining to Nagaon district and vowed to work for the fulfilment of those. Among the resolutions were: to set up a pharmacy training institute at Jagiroad Spun Silk Mills Limited, to set up a drama Institute at the Asam Natya Sanmilan campus at Bebejia and to pressurise the government to set up an engineering college in Nagaon district. Among other resolutions taken at the meeting were to develop the Champavati waterfalls at Saponala and Rengbeng waterfalls into tourist attractions. Moreover, it was also decided to pressurise the State Government to take measures to preserve the house of Miles Bronson, situated within the precincts of the Nagaon Mission School.
A new committee was also formed at the meeting with Dr Lakshminandan Bora as the chief advisor, Swapnanil Barua as the president, Manas Kumar Mahanta as the working president, Ajit Bora as the general secretary (administration), Prakash Bora as the general secretary (publicity) and Tribeni Bora as the general secretary (finance) to pursue the above agenda aggressively. The general meeting also decided to appeal to all people hailing from Nagaon district, who are now residing at Guwahati, to become part of the ‘Nagoyanmel’ by contacting at the e-mail email@example.com, the release added.
