Man dies after falling off dilapidated bridge
Correspondent
TURA, May 16 - A 36-year-old resident of Tura, Anand Borah fell off a dilapidated timber bridge after his car got stuck. The incident occurred last night on the old Rongkhon bridge on the outskirts of Tura.

“We received information about the incident today after which a police team rushed to the spot. The body of the victim was recovered and has been sent for post mortem,” said West Garo Hills SP Dr MGR Kumar.

Police reports suggest that the car that Borah was driving got stuck near the end of the bridge as there were no planks on it. Borah is from Fancy Valley locality of Tura.

Reports stated that the bridge has remained unused for quite some time after the construction of the new bridge at Rongkhon. However, there is no warning sign posted to inform residents of the condition of the bridge.

“Why is there no warning sign before the bridge? This is criminal negligence,” said a resident of Tura.
